I work with vintage coral that was collected years ago, giving it new life. All of the coral cutting is done in studio with lapidary equipment. For your vintage coral pendant, we will collaborate on the shape, size and various design elements.
Coral care tip: If you touch the coral a lot it might get dirty. To clean and brighten it up, gently brush with an old tooth brush and toothpaste. It will look like new!
Design Elements
Ajouré design - or openwork pierced designs - are patterns cut out of metal with a tiny jeweler’s saw. The pieces are hollow construction and lightweight. Let’s add some extra cool elements to your pendant!
I love adding rare and unusual shaped gems to vintage coral pieces. Contrasting the coral’s texture and neutralness, a pop of color or sparkle makes it extra special. Add a rose cut diamond or bright cut diamonds, precious or semi-precious gemstones to the pendant to add some flair.
Common gemstones used my designs: Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire, Aquamarine, Tourmilated Quartz, Green Amethyst, Copper Turquoise, Lapis, Tanzanite.
The gemstones and coral will be bezel set. My custom bezels are handmade specifically for each individual stone. The key features of my bezels are the hand cut notches that are placed asymmetrically into the bezel as an added signature detail. The stone is completely surrounded on all sides bymetal. It’s the most secure and stable setting, great for everyday wear.
