Wrist Units with Ruby, Aqua and Diamond Combo
Here’s a version of the classic Hinged Wrist Units Bracelet with a special ruby/ aquamarine combo and diamond accents. Yellow and rose gold pieces warm up this cool architectural design.
Design:
This bracelet is made from sterling silver with yellow and rose gold accents.
The metalwork on this bracelet has hollow form sterling silver elements. This allows it to be lighter weight. Gold pieces are soldered onto the silver forms to compliment and enhance the shapes.
Hinges are one of my favorite design elements. They allow for comfort and movement while keeping the bracelet structured.
Who doesn’t love the mystery of a hidden clasp? After much trial and error, this special hidden clasp was created. It is an innovative, hand crafted, precision clasp that is just as fun to use as it is to look at! The simple design is secure and seamless, elevating this bracelet to a work of art!
The ruby, aqua combo is set using the Japanese Kintsugi concept. Its the process of repairing something broken, leaving a gold seam where the crack was, literally golden (“kin”) and repair (“tsugi”). I chose this technique, or better yet, this technique chose this piece. While setting the ruby, it cracked. Luckily, I was able to cut the ruby down and decided aquamarine would be the perfect compliment and contrast. Kintsugi is a reminder to stay optimistic when things fall apart and to celebrate the flaws and missteps of life.
The gemstones are bezel set. My custom bezels are handmade specifically for each individual stone. The key features of my bezels are the hand cut notches that are placed asymmetrically into the bezel as an added signature detail. The stone is completely surrounded on all sides by metal. It’s the most secure and stable setting.
Oxidized Sterling Silver, 18k Yellow Gold, 14k Rose Gold
Ruby and Aqua combo, (2) 1.5mm diamonds
Bracelet .75” W x .25” D x 7.375” L
