Ruby Fossil Pearl Diamond Talisman Pendant

Design:
The metalwork on this pendant has Ajouré elements, or a pattern cut out of the metal. I decided to add an extra surprise for the wearer on the back of the ruby setting.
Both the ruby, orthoceras fossils, and diamonds are bezel set. My custom bezels are handmade specifically for each individual stone. The key features of my bezels are the hand cut notches that are placed asymmetrically into the bezel as an added signature detail. The stone is completely surrounded on all sides by metal. It’s the most secure and stable setting.
The pearl is attached by a wire wrap technique. It is secure and has movement.

Fun fact: Orthoceras is found in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Orthoceras are an extinct Nautiloid cephalopod that lived from the Ordovician Period to the Triassic Period (500 – 200 million years ago).
