Emerald and Coral Reversible Pendant
What do you see when you look at this pendant? It depends on which way you wear it! I couldn't decide, so now you have it both ways..you can have cake and eat it too!! :)
Bright green emerald encased in 18k royal yellow gold sits on top (or bellow) this striking pendant. Oxidized sterling silver creates the perfect contrast with the off-white vintage coral. Is it an Egyptian scarab or a Fleur-de-lis, you decide!
Design:
I work with vintage coral that was collected years ago, giving it new life. All of the coral cutting is done in the studio with lapidary equipment
The metalwork on this pendant has Ajouré elements, or a pattern cut out of the metal. I first create a hollow domed shape in sterling silver. This allows a larger forms to be light weight. 18k gold pieces are soldered onto the silver forms to compliment and enhance the shapes.
Both the coral and diamond are bezel set. My custom bezels are handmade specifically for each individual stone. The key features of my bezels are the hand cut notches that are placed asymmetrically into the bezel as an added signature detail. The stone is completely surrounded on all sides by metal. It’s the most secure and stable setting.
